Such a sweet couple! Mandy and Andy, married on March 10^th, had their a ceremony in Huber Court and reception in the Chrysler Museum in Norfolk.

They met through cheering. Both of them were cheerleaders at Old Dominion University, and of course, they were drawn to each other through their shared passion and their drive. Intended or not, I loved that they had ribbon wands for their reception exit. It really felt like their love story had come full circle, and they were honoring the roots of their relationship.

One of my favorite moments of the whole day was the first look. Andy was so nervous that he was practically shaking a little. His back was turned, but he kept his eyes closed all the same to be certain he wouldn’t see Mandy. Normally I simply watch a first look unfold, but in this case, I went over and whispered to him that it was okay to open his eyes. As a wedding photographer, I see a lot and I love it when a first look is loaded with so much emotion – even when they don’t actually see each other.

One of the other things that struck me was the amazing family that both Mandy and Andy had all around them. So many of their family members came from out of town to see the two of them get married. And you could really see their love for each other through all their glances and gestures. They really were true to the words of their first dance song, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” I loved the outside night portraits and the red tapestry portrait we were able to get, but more than that, I loved the genuine love that these two showed each other.

Andy & Mandy, thank you for letting me be part of your celebration and your love. You are surrounded by amazing people, and I hope you always keep that joy in your lives!
