Heidi and Kyle were married on July 20th at the Saint Bede Catholic Church in Williamsburg, with pictures afterward at the College of William and Mary. I loved being able to be their wedding photographer for this beautiful, romantic wedding!
Because this sweet couple wanted a simple, intimate wedding, they opted not to have a first look or a reception. Instead, they wanted to focus on their family and on each other—which I thought was perfect for them! Everyone does romance their own way, and for these two, that meant making sure that the day was stress-free and simply about each other!

I met Heidi and Kyle inside the church to do a few portraits before the ceremony, which took a little coordination by me ahead of time to keep them from meeting up too early. At one point though, Heidi needed to go to the bathroom, and we had to keep Kyle from accidentally seeing her! So, one of the flower girls made sure to cover his eyes as she rushed by! I love how this moment was captured in their wedding photography. Looking back at moments like this makes me smile!
Heidi had some gorgeous personal jewelry as well as a beautiful veil. But that veil didn’t exactly want to stay on. Sometimes, our outfits just have minds of their own!
But what was most memorable was the ceremony at Saint Bede Catholic Church. All that waiting was worth it when Kyle saw his bride walk down the aisle! Heidi had a dozen expressions throughout the ceremony. And through it all, the love and adoration they felt for one another was ever-present. Watching Heidi smile at her new husband and watching Kyle stand beside his best man (his grandfather) with a look of such joy… this is exactly why I love being a wedding photographer!
After the ceremony, I took Heidi and Kyle to James Blair on the College of William and Mary campus for a few portraits. That was where Kyle had proposed, so it was an important part of their day. We also got some great pictures by the Sunken Gardens—all while my assistant Lazuli did such a great job hiking my lights around the W & M campus in the summer heat. Thanks, Lazuli!
