Morgan and Scott were married on October 13th, with their ceremony and reception at the Williamsburg Inn.
Since both Morgan and Scott were Williamsburg natives, they knew the Williamsburg Inn would be a perfect location for their wedding. In fact, Morgan had been dreaming about getting married in this charming, historic hotel in Colonial Williamsburg ever since she was a little girl!

And with the help of their wedding coordinator, Catie Burnette, and Yuani at the Inn, they easily pulled off the sophisticated, stylish, black-tie wedding they wanted – a perfect fit for this venue. They wanted to plan not only a beautiful wedding that they could be proud of when they looked back on their pictures, but also an experience their friends and family would enjoy. Everything from the s’mores bar to the open bar party after the rehearsal dinner to the live band they brought in from Richmond to the glasses of champagne the guests all got as they took their seats for the outdoor ceremony went toward creating that feeling of warmth. Not to mention their personal touches like the monogrammed cups, cake topper, and personalized playing cards – exquisite! Their wedding style was simply impeccable.
Morgan spent months gathering pins and jewelry from her loved ones to make a jeweled bouquet… but when the whole thing ended up weighing almost ten pounds, she opted to carry real flowers instead! The flowers looked amazing with her Christina Wu dress (which she found at Church Street Bridal, where the proceeds go to raise money for women and children). And the blue topaz earrings her friend Nick Korkmaz, the owner of Kingsmill Jewelers, lent her for her “something blue” was the icing on the cake.
From the tribute to Morgan’s late father (via a piece of his tie sewn into her wedding dress), to the dance with her brother for the father/daughter dance, the day was filled with emotions. There was even a surprise serenade by a close friend!
I couldn’t help but get caught up in the feeling of this day, and I teared up more than once. But my favorite image was one I captured of Morgan spinning in her dress with her bridesmaids at the bottom of the Queen Elizabeth’s Staircase. I’ve photographed that staircase many times before, but that image really captured the joy and playfulness of the day.
A Celebration Even Hurricane Michael Couldn’t Dampen
There was a bit of a hiccup right before the outdoor rehearsal dinner when Hurricane Michael hit, though! The day before the dinner, the hurricane knocked out power to the surrounding area and the hotel. But with generators running, they were able to make sure everything hummed along right on schedule.
