Mini Wedding at The White Dog Bistro
Melissa and Eric wanted a smaller, intimate wedding so when everyone was moving their weddings to mini weddings, they didn’t have to change a thing with their October wedding. At least, not with the guest count. Their plans for an outdoor ceremony on the front lawn of The White Dog Bistro and Melissa’s arrival on a horse-drawn carriage however had to change when rain in the forecast was a 100% chance. But in the spirit of 2020, they too had learned to pivot prior to a change in weather so with a little help from their wedding pros they seamlessly transformed their tented reception into an equally romantic ceremony location.
White Dog Bistro Wedding
Melissa and Eric actually met in high school through mutual friends about 12 years ago. Eric was volunteering for a Fire/Ambulance Corp and she was on the Police Auxiliary. Through their friends and many days/nights spent at “The Building” they met and it was love at first sight. From that moment on, they both knew it was meant to be but were both too shy to act so they didn’t start officially dating for many more years. They had their first official date a couple years ago touring the Yorktown Battlefield followed with dinner at Olivia’s in Gloucester.
Mathews Wedding
They both admit now that back in 2008 they knew each other was “the one” from the moment they met.
“We both still remember the day we first saw each other – just two kids that were too afraid to admit it then :)”
For this mini wedding in the rain, the altar and chairs were set up on one end of the tent and the area was then flipped into a fun activity zone with Jenga, cornhole, and a giant Connect Four game for guests to enjoy during the reception. The rain continued all day and White Dog Bistro surprised us all when they provided umbrellas left over from a prior wedding to help the bridal party walk from the building to the aisle. Talk about going above and beyond!
The reception was full of laughter, dancing, and despite losing power to the tent shortly after dinner (water and electricity don’t mix well) the DJ and I had our own power sources so everyone continued to party until the final dance.
HUGE thank you to all the amazing vendors for helping their day run smoothly & be such a success! I look forward to working with all of you again!
